From rod, line, leader, and tippet choice, to positioning, casting styles, fly choice, presentation, setting the hook, and landing the fish, Tony rapidly walked me through the theory and application of these elements so that I was quickly getting bites from native salmon. It took another hour of his tutelage to get me to a point where I was able to land them. They bite fast and you need to be ready, but landing native Salmon and brookies is a thrill! The river was a gorgeous stretch of water and I will spend my winter daydreaming about getting back there. It was, without a doubt, one of the best fishing experiences of my life. Tony followed up with an email to summarize the key points of our lessons (when and when not to mend the line, rod/line/casting strategies for cramped casting spaces, etc.) and a list of the flies we used, with annotation of which flies and sizes were most productive. This company really teaches you how to fish for yourself. I now feel comfortable buying/tying the flies I need and applying the skills I learned to begin tackling more summer streams on my own.
