Common Questions
What can I hunt with you in Maine?
Whitetail deer, moose on a drawn permit, spring and fall turkey, ruffed grouse and woodcock, black bear over bait or foot snares, and our cast and blast day that combines upland birds with fly fishing.
What does a guided Maine hunt cost?
Day hunts start at $350 for semi-guided stand placement and $450 to $500 for a fully guided day on deer, turkey or upland birds. Bear hunts start at $2,100 and a six-day guided moose hunt is $3,500. Every trip and starting price is listed on our trip rates page.
Do I need a licence or a permit?
You carry a valid Maine hunting licence, bought from the state rather than from us, plus whatever tags the season calls for. Moose is permit-only through the state lottery. We will tell you exactly what you need before you book rather than leaving you to work it out.
How far ahead should I book?
As far ahead as you can for November deer and September and October moose, which fill months in advance and cannot be added to once a week is taken. Turkey, upland and short-notice days are easier to fit in.
I have never hunted Maine before. Is that a problem?
It is the reason to hire a guide. The Maine woods are vast and the difference between a good week and a wasted one is knowing the logging roads, the food sources and the bedding areas. We are in the woods year round so that you are not learning the ground on your own time.
