Winter in Maine doesn't mean staying indoors. It means our favorite season: hard water. Forget freezing on a bucket in the wind. With warm pop-up shelters, hearty meals and top-of-the-line electronics, we make ice fishing safe, comfortable and action-packed for everyone, from die-hard anglers chasing a 20-pound northern pike to families looking for a fun winter school-break activity.

Before You Go

Licence, Layers and Your Catch

Do I need a fishing licence?

Yes. Anyone 16 years or older needs a valid Maine fishing licence. You can buy one online through the Maine Dept of Inland Fisheries & Wildlife (MOSES).

What should I wear?

Layering is key: a moisture-wicking base layer, a fleece mid-layer and a windproof, waterproof outer shell. Waterproof insulated boots matter most, because wet feet end the day early. If you get cold, the warm shack is always ready.

Can we keep the fish?

Absolutely. We follow all Maine bag limits. If you want to keep your catch for dinner, your guide will fillet and bag it for you at the end of the day.

    Half days run about 4 hours; full days run about 8 hours. Half days are popular with families and first-timers.

    How cancellations work

    • Free rescheduling 30+ days outCancel 30 or more days before your trip and your deposit moves to a new date.
    • Inside 30 days, the deposit is keptIf you cancel with less than 30 days’ notice, or don’t show up, the deposit is forfeited.
    • If we cancel, you chooseIf we call a trip off for weather, unsafe conditions or any other reason, you pick a new date or a full refund.

    • 50% deposit holds your datesRequired for every trip and non-refundable. Pay it by Venmo, check or cash.

    How much does a guided ice fishing trip cost?

    It depends on the water. Half days start at $250 and full days at $400 on McGrath Pond and Salmon Lake, and most other waters run $300 for a half day and $450 to $500 for a full day.

    Which lakes and ponds do you fish?

    McGrath Pond and Salmon Lake, Wyman Lake, Embden and Fahi Pond, Ironbound Pond, Hermon Pond, and the Moosehead Lake region.

    What is provided?

    Bait and the use of our traps are included. Full days come with lunch and half days with snacks.

    Is this a good trip for children or first-timers?

    Yes. McGrath Pond and Salmon Lake are our family waters, with shallow areas that keep plenty of smaller fish coming through the hole.
