An honest number depends on the animal, the access and how long the job takes. A skunk under a deck and a beaver flooding a road are not the same work.

Common Questions

Questions About Cost

What does a guided hunt in Maine typically cost?

For a day hunt on deer, turkey or upland birds, expect to start in the $400 to $550 range. Bear and moose are multi-day guided trips with far more preparation behind them: bear hunts start at $2,100 and moose hunts at $3,500.

Why are moose hunts so much more expensive?

Because the work is not comparable. A moose hunt is six days, it follows weeks of scouting, and recovering an animal that size takes equipment, labour and often several people. You are also hunting on a permit that may have taken years to draw, and that deserves a serious effort.

Do you take a deposit?

Yes, for every trip. A non-refundable deposit of 50% holds your dates, or 25% for bear hunting and bear trapping. Nothing is taken when you send an enquiry, only once we confirm your dates.

Is the price per person or per party?

It varies by trip, which is exactly why we quote rather than publish a single figure. Tell us how many of you there are and we will give you the real number.

Do I need a licence as well?

Yes. Maine hunting and fishing licences are bought from the state and are not included. Some trips also need a permit, moose in particular. We will tell you what you need before you book.
