Two Ways to Take a Maine Bear
Baited Black Bear Hunting
Sites are established and maintained weeks in advance, with trail cameras and daily baiting so there is consistent activity before you arrive. You are placed in pre-scouted, active bait sites; we handle all baiting and maintenance so you can focus on your shot.
- Duration: 6-day hunt
- Season: any designated Maine bear season week (late August – September)
Guided Bear Trapping
One of Maine’s most traditional and effective methods for harvesting a bear: the cable foot restraint. We handle the complex logistics, exclusive land access and all the specialized trapping hardware, and as Registered Maine Guides we make sure every set is ethical, legal and compliant with MDIFW gear and zone rules.

Maine's hunting and trapping rules involve specific seasons, gear restrictions and changing zone boundaries. We stay current on all MDIFW requirements and make sure every stand and trap set is legal and ethical. You need to hold the appropriate valid Maine licences and permits.

How cancellations work
- Free rescheduling 30+ days outCancel 30 or more days before your trip and your deposit moves to a new date.
- Inside 30 days, the deposit is keptIf you cancel with less than 30 days’ notice, or don’t show up, the deposit is forfeited.
- If we cancel, you chooseIf we call a trip off for weather, unsafe conditions or any other reason, you pick a new date or a full refund.

What does a guided Maine bear hunt cost?
Guided bear hunts over private land start at $2,100, and guided bear trapping starts at $2,000.
When is bear season?
Our hunts run during the designated Maine bear season weeks in late August and September. The state sets the exact dates each year.
What deposit is required?
A 25% non-refundable deposit secures your dates. Deposits can be moved to another trip if you cancel 30 or more days ahead.
Do I need my own licences and permits?
Yes. You hold the appropriate Maine licences and permits for hunting or trapping bear. We provide the private land, the bait work and the guiding.
