Guided trapping is the most hands-on way to experience the heritage of the North Woods. You join a Registered Maine Guide on a working trap line, on prime private and public land, pursuing Maine’s diverse furbearers.
Whether you want to master the canine set or simply feel the anticipation of checking a mixed-bag line at sunrise, we handle the logistics. We provide the equipment, the land access and the know-how to be successful.
You provide the boots and the drive.
After a bear? We also guide bear trapping with cable foot restraints on exclusive private land.

We run a mixed-bag line, targeting water and land species depending on the season and conditions. Your trip includes:

Coyote, fox & bobcatBeaver, otter & mink
Also fisher, marten, muskrat, raccoon, skunk, opossum and weasel. Red and gray fox are both on the list. To take part in setting traps you need a valid Maine trapping licence.

How cancellations work
- Free rescheduling 30+ days outCancel 30 or more days before your trip and your deposit moves to a new date.
- Inside 30 days, the deposit is keptIf you cancel with less than 30 days’ notice, or don’t show up, the deposit is forfeited.
- If we cancel, you chooseIf we call a trip off for weather, unsafe conditions or any other reason, you pick a new date or a full refund.

What does a guided trapping trip cost?
A two-day trapline experience starts at $400, with additional days available.
What will we target?
Water and land species, depending on the season and conditions. You are running a real mixed-bag line, not a demonstration.
Do I need a trapping licence?
To set traps yourself, yes, you need a valid Maine trapping licence. We can walk you through what that involves before you book.
Do I need experience?
No. The trip is built around teaching the sets, the sign and the handling, at whatever pace suits you.
